I am being treated for liver sarcoidosis. My ACE levels were initially very high, and I was on steroids (5 mg) for 2 years. For the past 3 years, I have been taking HCQS and my ACE levels were within normal limits. Now my ACE level has increased to 107. What is the long-term solution for managing my condition?
In liver sarcoidosis, a rising ACE level (like 107) may suggest increased disease activity, but ACE alone is not enough to decide treatment; it should be correlated with symptoms, liver function tests, and imaging. Long-term management usually involves regular monitoring and adjusting medicines under a specialist's care. If disease activity is confirmed, your doctor may consider modifying the HCQS dose, reintroducing or adjusting steroids, or adding other immunosuppressive medicines if needed. Please consult your hepatologist/rheumatologist for proper evaluation rather than changing treatment on your own.
