I have been experiencing pain in my right ear for 2?3 days, along with reduced hearing. This began after I scratched my ear with a cotton bud a few days ago. The pain worsened, so I started taking Movexx SP Tablet twice daily, as advised by a local pharmacist. Is this medication appropriate? Am I receiving the correct treatment? I am also experiencing a seasonal cough and cold. What treatment would you recommend?
Movexx SP Tablet (Aceclofenac, Paracetamol, and Serratiopeptidase) is a pain reliever and anti-inflammatory medication, but it does not treat the underlying cause of an ear infection or injury. Since your symptoms began after using a cotton swab, you may have otitis externa or a damaged eardrum. It is important to stop taking medication suggested by a pharmacist and consult a doctor, preferably an ENT specialist, for a proper ear examination and treatment. For seasonal cough and cold, supportive care such as rest, hydration, and medications to relieve symtpoms (like decongestants or antitussives) is usually sufficient. Antibiotics are rarely needed unless a bacterial infection is confirmed.
