I have bleeding gums and have been using Hexidine mouthwash and gum paint. What could be causing the bleeding?

Bleeding gums are usually caused by inflammation of the gums due to plaque and tartar buildup around the teeth, a common condition called gingivitis. Other possible causes include poor oral hygiene, vitamin C deficiency, smoking, diabetes, hormonal changes, stress, hard brushing, or infections of the gums and teeth. Even though you are using Hexidine mouthwash and gum paint, the bleeding may continue if the underlying plaque or tartar is not removed properly. Maintaining good oral hygiene is very important, including brushing gently twice daily with a soft toothbrush, flossing carefully, cleaning the tongue, and drinking enough water. Eating healthy foods rich in vitamin C, such as citrus fruits and green vegetables, may also support gum healing. In many cases, professional dental cleaning (scaling) is needed to remove tartar and improve gum health. If you also have swollen gums, bad breath, loose teeth, pus discharge, severe pain, or persistent bleeding, you should visit a dentist for a detailed examination. Sometimes doctors may also suggest blood sugar or blood tests to rule out conditions like diabetes or vitamin deficiencies. Early treatment and regular dental care usually help control gum bleeding and prevent further damage to the teeth and gums.
