How should I use hydrogen peroxide solution for a sore throat?

Asked by Male, 29 · 9 hours ago

Hydrogen peroxide may sometimes be used as a gargle for a sore throat, but it should always be used with caution and properly diluted. If you are using a 3% solution, mix one part hydrogen peroxide with two parts clean water before use. Do not use it at full strength, as it may irritate the lining of the mouth and throat. Take a small amount of the diluted solution, gargle gently for about 30 seconds, and then spit it out completely. Do not swallow it. This can be done once or twice a day, but only for a very short period. Stop using it if you feel burning, increased irritation, or notice any unusual reaction. It is not suitable for young children unless advised by a doctor. If your sore throat lasts more than a few days, or if you develop a high fever, severe pain, or difficulty swallowing, please seek medical advice promptly. Warm salt water gargling is often a safer and equally effective alternative.
