Pregnancy is most likely to happen during the fertile window, which is the few days before ovulation and the day ovulation occurs. In many women with a regular 28-day menstrual cycle, ovulation usually happens around the 14th day from the start of the period. The highest chance of pregnancy is generally from about day 10 to day 16 of the cycle. Sperm can survive inside the body for a few days, so intercourse during this time increases the possibility of conception. A simple way to track fertile days is by counting the cycle dates, noticing clear stretchy vaginal discharge similar to egg white, or using ovulation prediction kits if needed. If periods are irregular, fertile days can be harder to predict. Maintaining a healthy weight, reducing stress, sleeping well, avoiding smoking and excess alcohol, and having regular intercourse during the fertile period may improve chances naturally.
