Could vaginal and lower abdominal pain eight days after unprotected sex be a side effect of the i-pill, a sign of an upcoming period, or something else?

It is common to experience lower abdominal cramping as a side effect of the I-pill (levonorgestrel). These symptoms can also mimic an upcoming period. However, because they started eight days after unprotected sex, they could also be related to an infection or early pregnancy. I recommend taking a home pregnancy test if your period is delayed by more than a week. Please rest and stay hydrated. If the pain becomes severe, or if you develop a fever or unusual discharge, please see a doctor.
