This emergency contraceptive contains hormones that can temporarily alter your wife's menstrual cycle, causing her period to be lighter, heavier, early, or delayed. While spotting is typical, we cannot completely rule out pregnancy based on symptoms alone. To give you both peace of mind, I recommend she take a home pregnancy test if her expected period is delayed by more than a week, or three weeks after taking the pill.
