I have been suffering from a fungal infection for the past 6 months, mainly on my buttocks. I have taken medicines like Itraconazole, antihistamine tablets, and applied Luliconazole cream. The infection improves while taking medicines, but returns again later, and the patches turn black in colour. How long should I continue treatment, and what medicines can permanently cure this problem?
A recurrent fungal infection on the buttocks is often due to persistent Tinea Corporis or Tinea Cruris. Medicines like Itraconazole tablets and Luliconazole cream usually help, but the infection can return if treatment is stopped too early or if the area remains moist. Keep the area clean and dry, wear loose cotton clothing, avoid sharing towels, and continue antifungal treatment for the full duration recommended by your doctor. The dark patches are often post-infection pigmentation and usually fade gradually after the infection clears.
