Over recent months, I have experienced severe memory issues, anxiety, blackouts, mild paranoia, coordination problems, restlessness, and headaches. Four days ago, I started taking Lamitor (50 mg) daily at night. Since starting this medication, my memory has improved, and I am experiencing fewer blackouts and mood swings. Given these symptoms and my positive response to Lamitor, could this indicate that I have some form of bipolar disorder?

Lamitor can help stabilize mood and is sometimes used in conditions such as Bipolar Disorder, but improvement after starting the medicine does not by itself confirm a bipolar diagnosis. Symptoms like memory problems, blackouts, anxiety, paranoia, headaches, and coordination issues can occur in several mental health or neurological conditions and need proper evaluation. Since you are noticing changes after starting treatment, it is important to continue follow-up with a psychiatrist or neurologist and avoid changing the dose on your own. Seek urgent care if you develop worsening confusion, severe mood changes, suicidal thoughts, or seizures.
