My six-year-old son, PATIENT, had four seizures: the first in October 2012, the second in December 2014, the third in January 2017, and now an early recurrence on March 15, 2017. We have been feeding him Levilex syrup continuously since 2014, but it keeps happening. His EEG is aberrant, but his MIR (standard or epileptic 3D) is normal. Since March 25, the doctor has prescribed him more YOGAZAM-5 and DILEX CHROMO 200. I'm not sure if this is because of drugs or a mental illness, but he acts quite strangely and forgets things. Could you please advise if the medications will continue?

Even if the MRI is normal, the EEG may be abnormal, and your child seems to have epilepsy with recurring seizures despite medication. Levetiracetam (Levilex), clonazepam-based medications like Yogazam, and other anti-seizure medications are sometimes taken for years in order to stop additional seizures, particularly when attacks are recurrent. This should be examined with the child's neurologist because behavioural changes, forgetfulness, tiredness, irritability, or strange actions might occasionally occur as a result of the seizures themselves or as side effects of anti-epileptic medications. Avoid abruptly stopping or switching medications since this may exacerbate seizures. For seizure management, regular follow-up, weight-based medication dose adjustment, adequate sleep, and avoiding missed doses are crucial.
