I have been taking Libotryp XL 25 for a long time. I also take Amlopin and LTK 50 for high blood pressure. I am unable to sleep without Libotryp XL and am worried about its long-term use. Please suggest safer alternatives or other treatment options.

Long-term difficulty sleeping can be stressful, and it is understandable to be concerned about depending on medicines for sleep. Libotryp XL 25 is sometimes used to help with sleep, anxiety, or nerve-related symptoms, but taking it for a long period should be monitored by a doctor, especially when you are also taking blood pressure medicines such as Amlopin and LTK 50. You should not stop Libotryp suddenly on your own, as this may worsen sleep problems or cause withdrawal symptoms. Instead, a doctor can gradually adjust the dose if needed and decide whether another medicine or a non-medicine approach would be safer and more suitable for you. Improving sleep habits is an important part of long-term treatment. Try to maintain a fixed sleep schedule, avoid mobile phones and television before bedtime, reduce tea, coffee, nicotine, and heavy meals in the evening, and create a quiet and comfortable sleep environment. Regular walking, light exercise, meditation, and relaxation techniques may also improve sleep naturally over time. In many people, stress, anxiety, depression, or irregular sleep patterns are major causes of chronic insomnia, and treating these underlying issues can reduce dependence on sleep medicines. Since you have high blood pressure and long-term sleep difficulty, it would be best to consult a physician or psychiatrist for a detailed review of your medicines and sleep patterns. The doctor may suggest safer long-term options, counselling, sleep therapy, or gradual medicine adjustment, depending on your condition. Seek medical advice promptly if you experience severe daytime sleepiness, dizziness, low mood, anxiety, or worsening blood pressure control.
