It contains female hormones that prevent ovulation, thicken cervical mucus to block sperm movement, and change the lining of the uterus to reduce the chance of pregnancy. Doctors may also prescribe it for irregular periods, painful periods, heavy menstrual bleeding, hormonal imbalance, or acne related to hormonal changes in some women. The tablet should be taken regularly at the same time each day for best effectiveness. Some women may experience nausea, headache, spotting, breast tenderness, mood changes, or mild weight changes while using it. Do not stop or start the medicine without medical advice.
