I have IBS-C with constipation and stomach discomfort. Can Ayurvedic treatment help manage these symptoms, and which remedies may be useful?

IBS-C is a form of irritable bowel syndrome where constipation, bloating, abdominal discomfort, and incomplete bowel movements occur repeatedly because the intestines become more sensitive and bowel movement slows down. Stress, irregular eating habits, low fibre intake, poor sleep, and certain foods may worsen symptoms in many people. Some people feel symptom relief with Ayurvedic approaches that focus on digestion, bowel regularity, stress reduction, and dietary balance. Mild herbal preparations, warm fluids, fibre-rich foods, regular meal timing, yoga, and relaxation practices may help improve bowel movement and reduce bloating in some individuals. However, very strong laxative herbs or repeated cleansing therapies may sometimes worsen cramps, dehydration, or dependency if overused. Management usually works best when combined with proper hydration, physical activity, adequate sleep, and identification of trigger foods such as very oily, spicy, or gas-forming meals. Persistent weight loss, blood in stool, severe pain, vomiting, or anaemia should be evaluated carefully because these symptoms may suggest conditions other than IBS.
