I have been experiencing a mild fever for the past 45 days. Initially, I was diagnosed with malaria and typhoid and took medication for 12 days, after which my blood tests came back clear. However, the fever (100-101?F) continued. We consulted another doctor who advised a Widal test, which again showed positive for typhoid. After completing another 10 days of medication, I still have a persistent low-grade fever (99-100?F). We are confused about the cause and the next steps, as the fever is not resolving. What should we do now?
A mild fever lasting 45 days needs proper re-evaluation. The Widal test can remain positive for a long time even after typhoid has been treated, so it may not always mean active infection. Persistent low-grade fever can be due to incomplete treatment, another hidden infection, inflammation, tuberculosis, viral illness, or other medical causes. Consult a physician or infectious disease specialist for a detailed examination and further tests.
