I have severe, recurring acne on my face and have previously used Melacare Forte and Skinlite creams without success. What medicine should I use to treat this acne?
Please stop using Melacare Forte and Skinlite immediately. These creams contain a strong steroid (mometasone), which can actually cause or worsen acne, a condition called steroid-induced acne, and thin your skin. They are meant for pigmentation, not acne. For severe, recurring acne, over-the-counter creams are usually insufficient. You should consult a dermatologist who can evaluate your skin. They may prescribe highly effective, targeted treatments such as oral isotretinoin (the gold standard for severe acne), oral antibiotics, or prescription topical retinoids. Avoid self-medicating to prevent permanent scarring.
