Yes, I highly recommend the meningococcal vaccine. Although sometimes labeled "optional," meningococcal disease is a rare but rapid and life-threatening bacterial infection. Both Sanofi (Menactra/MenQuadfi) and GlaxoSmithKline (Menveo) are excellent, FDA-approved vaccines that protect against the same four major strains (A, C, Y, W-135). Clinically, they are highly effective, safe, and considered interchangeable. Since there is no significant difference in the protection they offer, you can safely choose the more cost-effective brand. Please consult your pediatrician to administer the dose.
