I used Momex cream six months ago, but my skin darkened again after stopping it. The new cream prescribed by my doctor is not working well, so is it safe to start using Momex cream again, and are there any side effects?
It is not safe to restart Momex cream on your own. Momex contains mometasone, a potent steroid. While it can temporarily lighten skin, using it long-term or restarting it without supervision can cause severe side effects, including skin thinning, visible blood vessels, stretch marks, and worsening of the darkening (rebound hyperpigmentation). The new cream prescribed by your doctor is likely a safer, non-steroidal option. These treatments take longer to work but are much safer for long-term use. Please do not self-medicate; consult your dermatologist to safely adjust your treatment plan.
