I have a stye in my eye, and even after using the ophthalmologist's prescribed Moxifloxacin eye ointment and Amoxycillin capsules, I am not getting much relief after 3 days. Is this normal, or do I need a different treatment or medicine?
A stye usually happens when an oil gland near your eyelid gets blocked and infected, causing swelling, redness, pain, or tenderness. After three days of using Moxifloxacin ointment and Amoxycillin capsules, it may still be too soon to see full improvement. Most styes take several days to get better, especially if the swelling is large or deep. Using warm compresses can help by improving drainage and easing the blockage. Try placing a clean, warm cloth over your closed eye for 10 to 15 minutes a few times a day to help the swelling go down faster. Avoid touching, squeezing, or rubbing your eye, and do not use eye makeup, as this can make things worse or spread infection. Keep taking your medicines exactly as your doctor prescribed unless they tell you otherwise. If the swelling gets bigger, your vision becomes blurry, you develop a fever, have severe pain, or if there is no improvement after a few more days, please consult your doctor again.
