Mupirocin ointment is an antibiotic used to treat certain bacterial skin infections. Do not burst the blister, as it helps protect the damaged skin from infection. If the blister breaks, gently clean the area and cover it with a suitable dressing. Do not apply mupirocin ointment to a burn unless your doctor has recommended it, as inappropriate use can cause skin irritation and contribute to antibiotic resistance. Seek medical attention if the burn is large or deep, affects the face, hands, feet, genitals, or a major joint, or develops increasing redness, swelling, pain, pus, or fever.
