I have been experiencing mild pain in my left breast, and my breast size seems to be increasing. Should I be worried about this?
Mild breast pain along with a feeling of increased breast size is quite common and is often not a sign of anything serious. In many cases, this may happen due to normal hormonal changes during the menstrual cycle, especially before periods. It may also occur due to puberty changes, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight changes, or sometimes benign conditions such as breast cysts or fibrocystic changes. Wearing a well-fitted, supportive bra, reducing caffeine intake, and using warm or cold compresses may help ease discomfort. Simple pain relief medicines like paracetamol can also be used if needed, but only after checking with a doctor. However, you should not ignore the symptoms if the pain persists, worsens over time, or is accompanied by a lump, nipple discharge, skin changes, redness, or fever. In such cases, it is important to consult a doctor for a proper examination and, if required, an ultrasound or other tests. Most breast changes are harmless, but getting checked can provide reassurance and ensure early treatment if needed.
