I have PCOS, irregular periods, and PMS. Despite taking Metformin 500 mg and Ovacare tablets and working out regularly, I am unable to lose weight. Should my medication dosage be adjusted, or is there another treatment I should discuss with my doctor?
Managing weight with PCOS can be frustrating, but please don't lose heart. Your current metformin dose (500 mg) is a common starting dose. Your doctor may consider safely increasing this dosage to better address insulin resistance, which heavily influences weight. You might also discuss adding inositol supplements or exploring newer metabolic medications like GLP-1 receptor agonists. Additionally, ask your doctor to check your thyroid and cortisol levels to rule out other factors hindering weight loss. Combining a low-glycemic diet with your workouts is key. Please consult your gynecologist or an endocrinologist to safely adjust your treatment plan.
