I have had mouth ulcers for the past 10 days. I used Becosules twice daily for 3 days and also applied Quik Kool gel, but there has been no relief. Please suggest an effective treatment or medicine.
Mouth ulcers are common and can occur due to stress, lack of sleep, vitamin deficiencies, spicy foods, stomach irritation, accidental cheek biting, low immunity, or irritation from sharp teeth or braces. Most simple mouth ulcers heal within 1-2 weeks, but since your ulcers have lasted for 10 days without much relief from Becosules and Quik Kool gel, the irritation or underlying cause may still be continuing. Continue maintaining good oral hygiene and avoid spicy, oily, very hot, or acidic foods, as these can worsen pain and delay healing. Drinking enough water and eating fruits and foods rich in vitamins may also help. Some people get relief from antiseptic or pain-relieving mouth gels and medicated mouthwashes, but the exact treatment depends on the severity and cause of the ulcers. Stress reduction and proper sleep are also important because stress can trigger or worsen recurrent ulcers in many people. If the ulcers are large, extremely painful, repeatedly recurring, associated with fever, difficulty eating, weight loss, or if they continue beyond 2 weeks, you should consult a doctor or dentist for proper examination. Sometimes blood tests may be needed to check for vitamin B12, iron, or folic acid deficiency, and in some cases, stronger prescription medicines may be required. Avoid repeatedly changing medicines on your own, as proper diagnosis is important for complete relief. With correct treatment and care, most mouth ulcers heal well without complications.
