ATORVASTATIN+METOPROLOL+RAMIPRIL is a combination medicine used to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) and reduce cholesterol levels. Also, it reduces the risk of heart attack or stroke. Hypertension is a condition in which the force exerted by the blood against the artery walls becomes so high that it causes health problems, such as heart disease.
ATORVASTATIN+METOPROLOL+RAMIPRIL contains Atorvastatin (statin), Metoprolol (beta-blocker) and Ramipril (ACE inhibitor). Atorvastatin belongs to the class of statins or HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors that work by inhibiting the HMG-CoA reductase enzyme in the body that is essential to make cholesterol. Thereby, it decreases the production of LDL (bad cholesterol) by the liver. Also, it reduces the risk of stroke or heart attack by lowering the excess cholesterol deposition in the major blood vessels of the brain and heart. Metoprolol acts by inhibiting beta receptors in the heart, causing the heart to beat more slowly and with less power. Drug-Food Interaction: Avoid taking more than one or two small glasses of grapefruit juice per day, as large quantities of grapefruit juice can change the effects of Atorvastatin. ATORVASTATIN+METOPROLOL+RAMIPRIL may interact with St. John’s wort (herbal supplement used to treat depression). Also, avoid alcohol consumption as it may increase tiredness.
