I am suffering from toothache and tooth sensitivity. I have already used Shy-NM and Aclaim toothpaste, but the problem still persists. What treatment should I follow?
Persistent toothache along with tooth sensitivity usually means there may be an underlying dental problem that needs proper treatment, rather than only sensitivity toothpaste. While products such as Shy-NM and Aclaim can help reduce mild sensitivity, they may not work if the pain is caused by cavities, gum infection, enamel wear, cracked teeth, exposed roots, teeth grinding, or infection involving the tooth nerve. If the pain is triggered by hot, cold, or sweet foods or by chewing and continues despite using these toothpastes, it is important to visit a dentist for a detailed examination. The dentist may advise dental cleaning, fluoride treatment, fillings, treatment for gum disease, or sometimes root canal treatment if the tooth nerve is affected. In the meantime, brush gently with a soft toothbrush, avoid very hot or cold foods and acidic drinks, and do not brush aggressively because hard brushing can worsen sensitivity. Try not to chew on the painful side and maintain good oral hygiene by cleaning the teeth regularly. Avoid taking painkillers repeatedly without knowing the exact cause, because they may only give temporary relief. Since the problem is persisting, professional dental treatment is the best way to identify and correct the underlying issue and prevent the condition from worsening.
