My blood pressure is consistently 140/90, with occasional spikes to 160/100. Currently, I am also experiencing a fever. Are these symptoms connected, and what steps should I take?

A blood pressure of 140/90 is elevated, and readings around 160/100 need medical attention, especially if repeated. Fever itself can temporarily raise blood pressure because of stress, pain, dehydration, or infection, so the two may sometimes be connected. Rest well, drink plenty of fluids, continue your prescribed BP medicines regularly, and monitor both temperature and blood pressure. Avoid excess salt, caffeine, and self-medicating with unnecessary painkillers. Seek medical care promptly if you develop chest pain, severe headache, breathing difficulty, confusion, or if the blood pressure remains very high despite rest. If you need medicine to lower your fever, stick to acetaminophen (Tylenol/Paracetamol).
