I have been suffering from tinea cruris for the past 6 months, and it keeps recurring. I am currently taking itraconazole 200 mg twice daily, terbinafine 250 mg once daily, and applying miconazole nitrate cream. Why does it keep coming back?
Tinea cruris can keep recurring if the infection is not fully cleared, treatment duration is insufficient, or due to factors like sweating, tight clothing, diabetes, or reinfection from clothes/towels. Sometimes fungal resistance can also occur. It is important to complete treatment as advised, keep the area dry, and avoid sharing personal items. Consult a dermatologist for proper evaluation and possible change in therapy.
