After donating blood, I noticed a clot near the donation site. I have been applying ice regularly, but it has not improved. What should I do?
The clot is likely a small bruise (haematoma) or a minor superficial blood clot, which is common after a needle puncture. It is usually harmless and often resolves on its own. Apply a warm compress instead of ice and gently massage the area to improve circulation. You can also use a topical heparin gel, such as Thrombophob Gel, to reduce swelling and help prevent clots. If the area becomes very painful, red, swollen, or warm, consult a doctor immediately.
