I have recently been diagnosed with early-stage fatty liver disease and mild prostate enlargement. Please suggest appropriate treatment, diet, and lifestyle changes to manage these conditions.
Early-stage fatty liver disease and mild prostate enlargement are common conditions and, in many cases, can be managed well with healthy lifestyle changes and regular medical follow-up. Fatty liver often improves when excess fat in the liver is reduced through weight control, healthy eating, and exercise. Try to avoid alcohol completely, as it can worsen liver damage. Reduce oily, fried, sugary, and processed foods, and focus more on fruits, vegetables, whole grains, salads, pulses, lean protein, and plenty of water. Regular physical activity, such as brisk walking for 30-45 minutes most days of the week, can help improve liver health and overall fitness. If you are overweight, even gradual weight loss may make a significant difference. Also, keep diabetes, cholesterol, and blood pressure under control if you have them. Mild prostate enlargement can cause symptoms such as frequent urination, weak urine flow, urgency, or waking up at night to pass urine. To help manage this, avoid holding urine for long periods, reduce tea, coffee, alcohol, and excess fluids close to bedtime, and try to empty the bladder completely while urinating. Regular exercise and maintaining a healthy weight may also help reduce symptoms. Your doctor may prescribe medicines if urinary symptoms become bothersome. It is important to continue regular follow-up with your physician or urologist so they can monitor both the liver and prostate condition over time. Seek medical attention promptly if you develop severe abdominal pain, swelling, blood in urine, inability to pass urine, jaundice, or significant worsening of symptoms.
