This is a very common situation in early pregnancy. An abdominal ultrasound can struggle to detect a heartbeat if it is still very early (usually before 7 weeks). A transvaginal ultrasound (TVS) is a safe, highly sensitive scan that gets closer to the uterus, providing a much clearer view. It is recommended simply to get an accurate assessment, so please try not to worry. Currently, no medications can force a heartbeat to appear. You should continue your daily folic acid. Please consult your obstetrician to schedule the TVS; they will advise if any supportive treatments, such as progesterone, are needed based on your clinical history.
