I am having severe to moderate pain that starts from my mouth and extends to my head continuously, 24/7. What could be causing this?
Continuous pain that starts from the mouth and spreads to the head can happen due to several reasons, and the exact cause depends on where the pain begins and what other symptoms are present. Common causes include severe dental problems such as tooth infection, gum infection, impacted wisdom tooth, or cavities, which can cause pain that radiates to the jaw, face, ear, and head. Sinus infection, jaw joint problems, nerve-related pain, migraine, stress-related muscle tension, or even ear infections can also cause similar symptoms. If the pain is present 24/7 and is moderate to severe, it should not be ignored, especially if there is swelling, fever, difficulty chewing, sensitivity in the teeth, facial numbness, or headache with vomiting or vision changes. Sometimes untreated dental infections can spread and worsen over time. You should try to maintain good oral hygiene, avoid very hot or cold foods if they increase the pain, stay hydrated, and take only doctor-advised pain medicines for temporary relief. However, since the pain is continuous and affecting the head as well, it is important to get examined by a dentist or doctor as soon as possible to identify the exact cause and start proper treatment. Early diagnosis can help prevent complications and provide better pain relief.
