I had scabies for 1 month and used Permethrin, Ivermectin, Lindane, and sulfur treatment. The itching is less now, but rashes and night itching are still present. How can I know if scabies is fully cured, and what may help these remaining symptoms?
After scabies treatment, itching and skin marks can continue for several weeks, even when the mites are already dead. The skin often stays irritated because of leftover inflammation, scratching, dryness, or an allergic reaction to the dead mites. Night itching may slowly reduce over time, but mild itching alone does not always mean the infection is still active. Scabies is more likely to improve if new burrows, fresh bumps, or rapidly spreading rashes no longer appear. Old marks may take time to fade completely. Moisturisers, anti-itch medicines, soothing lotions, clean bedding, washing clothes in hot water, and avoiding repeated scratching may help the skin recover faster. All close family members and partners usually need treatment together to reduce reinfection. Repeated use of strong anti-scabies medicines too frequently may irritate the skin and increase dryness or rash. Fresh itchy bumps between fingers, around the waist, genitals, or worsening night itching after initial improvement can suggest persistent infestation or reinfection and may need reassessment of treatment and hygiene measures.
