My baby has had a severe cough and a fever returning every 5 hours for the last 2 days, despite taking prescribed Xyzal M, Zerotuss XP, and Duet 228.5 DS. Are these the right medicines, or should I give a different medication to help relieve the symptoms so my baby can sleep?

These prescribed medicines are standard: Duet is an antibiotic, Zerotuss XP relieves cough, and Xyzal M targets allergies. Antibiotics can take 48 to 72 hours to control an infection, which is why the fever is still returning. Do not change these medications or start new ones on your own. To relieve the fever and help your baby sleep, ensure you are giving a prescribed paracetamol syrup at safe, doctor-approved intervals. Keep your baby hydrated and use a saline nasal spray if congested. Please consult your paediatrician immediately for a re-evaluation, especially if you notice fast breathing, chest retractions, or extreme lethargy.
