I was diagnosed with Rolandic seizures and advised?zonisamide?medicine for?treatment. The doctor says it will go away after a certain age. Please clarify
Rolandic epilepsy (also called benign epilepsy with centrotemporal spikes) is a common childhood condition that usually improves on its own as the brain matures, and most children outgrow seizures by adolescence (around 13?16 years). Zonisamide is given to control seizures and protect the brain while this natural remission happens. Continue the medicine as prescribed and follow up regularly with your doctor, as the outlook is generally very good.
