Could the black lines that recently appeared on both sides of my index fingernail be related to my use of the blood pressure medication Amlopres AT 25 mg over the last six years?
Amlopres AT contains the generic medications amlodipine and atenolol. It is highly unlikely that these black lines are related to your medication, especially since you have been taking it safely for six years. These lines are more commonly caused by minor, unnoticed trauma, friction, or other benign skin conditions. However, because any new pigmentation on the nail should be properly evaluated, I highly recommend having a doctor or dermatologist examine your fingernail in person to provide you with peace of mind and an accurate assessment.
