Severe itching with white flaky skin in a person with diabetes is often due to very dry skin, fungal infection, or eczema. High blood sugar can reduce skin moisture and make the skin more prone to irritation, infections, and scaling. Dry mouth may also be related to dehydration or raised blood sugar levels. Dutas (dutasteride) is unlikely to cause this itching, but it may rarely cause skin reactions.
