I frequently have indigestion, heartburn, gas, and acidity. My stools are irregular and sometimes have small streaks of blood. My ultrasound is normal, and homeopathy hasn't helped. What should I do?
Frequent indigestion, heartburn, gas, and irregular stools are often related to acidity or bowel sensitivity, but the presence of blood in stool is important and should not be ignored. It may be due to piles (haemorrhoids), small anal fissures from constipation, or, less commonly, other bowel conditions, even if your ultrasound is normal. In the meantime, focus on lifestyle changes such as eating regular, simple meals, increasing fibre (fruits, vegetables), drinking plenty of water, avoiding spicy/oily foods, tea/coffee excess, and not straining during bowel movements. Medicines like antacids or acid reducers may help with heartburn, but treating the cause of bleeding is most important, so do not rely only on home remedies or alternative medicines if symptoms persist.
