I have had a burning sensation in my stomach for the past few days, along with gastric discomfort. Please suggest any medicine to manage this condition.

A burning sensation in the stomach with gastric discomfort is commonly caused by excess stomach acid or irritation of the stomach lining. You may try over-the-counter antacid medications, such as aluminium and magnesium hydroxide, after meals to neutralise acid and provide quick relief. An acid-reducing medicine, such as omeprazole taken before breakfast, or famotidine taken at bedtime, can also help reduce symptoms. Avoid spicy and oily foods, tea, coffee, alcohol, smoking, and late-night meals, and eat smaller, more frequent meals. If the pain worsens or you notice vomiting blood, black stools, weight loss, or persistent symptoms, please consult a doctor promptly.
