I recently became unconscious at my office and later regained consciousness in the hospital. The doctor told me that it could have been due to a hypertensive crisis, cardiac arrest, or stroke. I have been prescribed Telma 20 mg once daily. My current blood pressure is around 150-160, sometimes reaching 180. Can I take Himalaya Serpina tablet (one tablet twice daily) to help control my blood pressure?
Your recent episode of losing consciousness is a serious warning sign and needs close medical follow-up. It may have been caused by very high blood pressure, a heart rhythm problem, or reduced blood flow to the brain, such as in a stroke. Your current blood pressure readings of 150 to 180 show that your blood pressure is not yet well controlled with Telma 20 mg (Telmisartan). Your doctor may need to change the dose or add another blood pressure medicine. Himalaya Serpina tablet (Sarpagandha) is an Ayurvedic medicine that may lower blood pressure in some people, but its effect is not always predictable. When taken with Telmisartan, it may sometimes lower blood pressure too much, increasing the risk of dizziness, weakness, or another fainting episode, especially after a recent collapse. It is not advisable to start Himalaya Serpina tablet on your own. Please consult your doctor so that your medicines can be adjusted safely and, if needed, further tests such as heart and brain checks can be performed.
