Oral contraceptive pills may interact with your anti-epileptic medications, potentially affecting seizure control or contraceptive effectiveness. The estrogen in OCPs can lower lamotrigine (Lamitor DT-25 Tablet) levels, increasing the risk of seizures. However, lamotrigine and clobazam (Frisium 5 Tablet) are less likely to reduce the effectiveness of OCPs than some older anti-epileptic drugs. Levetiracetam has no significant interaction with OCPs. It is advisable to consult your neurologist to adjust the lamotrigine dosage and your gynaecologist for safer options, such as non-hormonal or long-acting reversible contraceptives, which are often preferred for women with epilepsy.
