MTS is a common cause of focal seizures and may occasionally affect memory and learning. With good seizure control, most patients can lead normal, independent lives. Oral contraceptive pills may interact with your anti-epileptic medications, potentially affecting seizure control or contraceptive effectiveness. The estrogen in OCPs can lower lamotrigine (Lamitor DT-25 Tablet) levels, increasing the risk of seizures. However, lamotrigine and clobazam (Frisium 5 Tablet) are less likely to reduce the effectiveness of OCPs than some older anti-epileptic drugs. Levetiracetam has no significant interaction with OCPs.
