I have been diagnosed with fatty liver. After lunch, I sometimes feel mild abdominal pain. What could be causing this?
Fatty liver on its own usually does not cause significant pain, but some people may feel a mild discomfort or heaviness in the upper right side of the abdomen. The pain after lunch can be due to several common reasons. After a heavy or fatty meal, the liver and digestive system work harder, which may lead to a feeling of fullness or discomfort. Gas formation, indigestion, or acidity is also a very common cause of mild abdominal pain after eating. In some cases, problems with the gallbladder, such as gallstones, can also cause similar symptoms, especially after fatty meals. It is important to note that not all abdominal pain is directly due to fatty liver. Improving your diet by reducing oily, fried, and high-fat foods, eating smaller meals, and maintaining a healthy weight may help. If the pain becomes frequent or severe, or is associated with vomiting, yellowing of the eyes, or loss of appetite, you should consult your doctor for further evaluation.
