CEFPIROME+SULBACTAM is an antibiotic medicine used in the treatment of bacterial infections. It is used in treating mild to moderate infections of the nose, ears, skin, throat, urinary tract, and lungs (such as pneumonia and bronchitis (infection in the airway tubes)) caused by bacteria. A bacterial infection occurs when harmful bacteria grow in the body. It can infect any part of the body and multiply very quickly. CEFPIROME+SULBACTAM is only effective in treating infections caused by bacteria and is not effective for viral infections like the flu or a common cold.
CEFPIROME+SULBACTAM contains Cefpirome and Sulbactam. It works by inhibiting the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall (a protective covering) that is necessary for their survival.
CEFPIROME+SULBACTAM may cause certain side effects, such as indigestion, diarrhoea, nausea, vomiting, headache, pain at the injection site, and stomach pain. If these side effects persist or worsen, please consult your doctor. A trained healthcare professional will administer it. Hence, do not self-administer.
Avoid taking CEFPIROME+SULBACTAM if you are allergic to it or any other penicillin or cephalosporin antibiotics. Let your doctor know about your complete medical history, including current medication, to rule out any side effects/interactions. Before administration, inform your doctor if you have/had liver and kidney disease. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before receiving CEFPIROME+SULBACTAM.
Bacterial Infections.
CEFPIROME+SULBACTAM contains Cefpirome (a cephalosporin antibiotic) and Sulbactam (beta-lactamase inhibitor). Cefpirome is a broad-spectrum cephalosporin antibiotic that acts against both aerobic (grow in the presence of oxygen) and anaerobic (grow in the absence of oxygen) bacteria. Sulbactam inhibits the action of beta-lactamase. Beta-lactamase is an enzyme bacteria produce that can destroy antibiotics (cefotaxime). CEFPIROME+SULBACTAM works by inhibiting the synthesis of the necessary bacterial cell wall (a protective covering) for their survival. This causes damage to the bacterial cell wall and eventually leads to the death of the bacterial cell. Thus, it prevents the growth of bacterial infections.
CEFPIROME+SULBACTAM should be avoided if you are allergic to it or any other antibiotics. Keep your doctor informed about your complete health condition, including current medication and medical history, to rule out any side effects/interactions. Before administration, inform your doctor if you have/had any history of liver and kidney disease. Inform your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding before receiving CEFPIROME+SULBACTAM. Consult your doctor about using CEFPIROME+SULBACTAM in children. Do not discontinue or abruptly stop the medication, as it may lead to antibiotic resistance, a condition where bacteria become resistant to antibiotics.
