I was previously advised to take Gemer P L 2 Tablet, but since it has been banned, my doctor switched me to Gemer 2 Tablet. However, my blood sugar levels remain high (217 mg/dL fasting and 293 mg/dL after meals). Which alternative medication can I take other than Gemer P L 2 or Gemer 2?
Your blood sugar levels remain high even while taking Gemer 2 Tablet, indicating that your current treatment is not adequately controlling your diabetes. After evaluating your kidney function, weight, and risk of hypoglycaemia (low blood sugar), your doctor may consider adding another class of antidiabetic medication, such as an SGLT2 inhibitor (e.g., dapagliflozin or empagliflozin) or a DPP-4 inhibitor (e.g., sitagliptin or linagliptin). If blood sugars continue to stay high, a GLP-1 receptor agonist (e.g., semaglutide) or insulin may be required. Do not change medications on your own. Consult your doctor to determine the safest and most effective treatment regimen.
