I am getting a fever after adenoid surgery. Is this normal after the operation, and what treatment or care may help me recover properly?
A mild fever after adenoid surgery can sometimes happen during the first few days because the body is healing from the operation. Throat irritation, dryness, mild inflammation, reduced fluid intake, or mucus buildup may also contribute to low-grade fever and discomfort. Some people notice throat pain, bad breath, nasal blockage, tiredness, or mild ear pain while recovering. Recovery usually improves with proper rest, enough fluids, soft foods, and avoiding very hot, spicy, or hard foods for some time. Doctors may advise pain relief or fever medicines like paracetamol, depending on your symptoms and age. Keeping the throat moist, sleeping with the head slightly raised, and following post-surgery instructions carefully may also help with healing. Most mild fevers settle gradually as recovery progresses. Consult your doctor if the fever becomes high, there is heavy bleeding from the nose or mouth, severe breathing trouble, dehydration, worsening pain, or foul-smelling discharge.
