Fever, along with tooth pain in children, may occur due to tooth infection, gum inflammation, cavity-related swelling, or, less commonly, throat or ear infections that spread pain to the teeth. Both Ibugesic Plus and Meftal-P are used to reduce fever and pain, but the safer choice depends on the age, weight, stomach condition, hydration and medical history of the child. Many doctors commonly prefer paracetamol or ibuprofen for fever and dental pain in children because these medicines are usually better tolerated when given at the correct dose. Avoid giving both medicines together without proper guidance, as this may increase the risk of side effects. Warm fluids, soft foods, and keeping the child hydrated may also help reduce discomfort until the pain settles or the tooth is treated. A dental check-up may help identify an infection or a cavity-related cause if the pain persists. Seek medical care if there is facial swelling, pus, difficulty swallowing, high fever, or worsening tooth pain.
